Deliver Me

I was involved in a car accident today/last night. Crazy stuff.

I had just gotten off work. Literally. I mean, I had just pulled out of the parking lot, and up to the light next to the store. I had been sitting there for about half a minute, and the next thing I know.....BOOM CRASH POW. I get rear-ended and I hit the car infront of me. It turns out that the woman in the car behind me was playing with her GPS system and didn't seem to notice that my car was stopped at a stop light. I'll post a picture later. I ended up rear ending a lady driving home with her infant child in the back seat. Everybody was involved. No lie, I was pretty pissed. I mean, this was the last thing I needed at Friday night at 8:12 pm when I got off work. Alakecree was the first to get there, followed by my folks. My dad ended up talking about old cars with the tow truck guy, I found that quite interesting. The old lady that hit me was pretty shaken up. Whatever. I just hope they'll be able to fix the Silver Bullet 2.5. I mean, THEY DON'T MAKE SATURN VEHICLES ANYMORE! Straight up, if have to get a new car, I'm gunning for a truck, like a Chevy Colorado or a Nissa Frontier. Yeah...I think that's where I gonna invest my money in. Or maybe get a single cab Chevy Silverado. Put some rims on it and lower the suspension. Yessir.

I should probably get some rest. Yes? Yes.

Chapagne and Cigars

I really wanted to have another post for Dec '09, but alas, I was too lazy. But I guess I've got a good reason.

About a month ago, I got a message on Facebook from some "random" person. She says that I know her from church, but without a picture on her profile, I have no idea who she was. So, to entertain myself, I respond to the message. In her next message, sends me a picture. And a damn good one, too.
I know, that's what I said. Definitely a cutie. So now, I'm a little more interested. Fast forward a week later and about 15 more messages. I asked out on a date. Where do we go? Brazil's, a cafe and coffee shop off of Westheimer. Best date I've ever been on. So good that I ask her on another date the next day. Fast forward 3 more weeks. Alakecree and I are a happy couple, and I can say I'm truly happy, the kind of happy I haven't been in a while.

My first blog post for the new year, and the decade. Cool.

I am quite hungry. Hungry enough to eat at Arbys. Now that's some serious hunger. Here's something random: I have a jar of moonshine in the backseat of my car.

I guess I'll sign off for now. Yes.

Rabdargab

So, a while back I found my "journal" from back in the day. And by back in the day, I mean like 6th grade, 10+ years ago. After reading some of this, I thought it'd be fun/interesting/an-easy-way-of-posting-and-not-posting-at-the-same-time. I'm going to type these in original form, with all incorrect spelling and grammar. Here's the first entry:
December 18, 1996 - Wednesday: Today is a very slow day. The news said it would snow today. But instead it snowed last night. In science we watched a movie about two polar bears, Klondike and Snow. Their mom left them. When they got too big for their exibit in Denver, the moved to Florida. In P.E. we played basketball. Our team lost all but one game. The game we won I sunk two; one Nothin' but Net & one Over The Head Toss. But it was fun. The rest of the day had no meaning. Days 'til Christmas break: 2

Speaking of snow, it actually snowed here in Houston today. I heard it made national news. I literally snowed from when I woke up at 8:47am until about 6pm. Now, when I say snow, I don't mean the white fluffy snow you see in Chicago or Colorado or those other place. No, this was more like frozen rain drops falling from the sky. They didn't stick to the ground, but they were able to stick to my car.

As much as I would like to stay and chat, I must be going. This negro has to be up for work in about 7 hours. Peace out and kick rocks.

The Last One

Crap, I forgot to post this month, again. I mean, I commented earlier this month, but I think I've set a minimum of at least two posts a month.

Quick recap:
I think I've become a transplant hipster. Every weekend I'm downtown to catch a show, check out a gallery opening or to attend a film festival. I'm really thinking about moving downtown; if not within the loop, maybe just right outside the loop.

Currently on the hunt for a slightly used iPhone. I don't care what generation, although I'd prefer an 8gig 1st gen iPhone.

Post!!!

Arugula

"Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is an option"

I believe in this quote 100%. The other day my mom got onto me about how I still "skateboard". There's obviously a difference between skateboarding and what I do, I know that. That's just a can a worms I really didn't want to be bothered with. She says that I need to "grow up". I think that was the first time I actually grasped the concept of growing up. You know, when you were little, being grown up meant having freedom, doing whatever you wanted and all those posh luxuries, right? But as you experienced life more, you got to see what "grown up" was all about. Paying bills, working a job that you most likely will loathe to the utmost and all that jazz. As me, Brandon James, I want to hold on to all forms of youth that I can. I want to be able to sit around on Saturday and watch cartoons. Bump that, I want to watch cartoons all day. Ride my bike or longboard, fly a kite. I don't see it as "being immature", I see it as me constantly reminding myself not to take life too seriously. To be honest, I would love to live my life like Tom Hanks did in the movie "Big": manage to be a functional member of society while still being young at heart. I'll keep dreaming.

I ride slabs of wood
My feet, and gravity
Propel me along.

Today at work we were talking about what we would do if you had the option working at your dream job. Me? I said that I would love to skate and surf, and to teach people how to skate and to surf. But then I thought to myself, "Nigga, you don't know how to surf...yet". I wanted to this summer, but I was pretty busy with this new job. When springtime shows is its beautiful face again in April, I plan on going surfing down at the beach at least once a month.

(haha auto-spellcheck doesn't recognize the word nigga)

Random picture or random story? Random story it is.

So during one of my summers up at SFA, my friend Nick came to visit. Saturday night we went out to the bar and met up with a bunch of my friends. We decide to leave, and go back to my house. I invited all of my friends there, plus some randoms from the bar. We all reconvene back at the house, and have a nice little party (somewhere between 20-30 people). After a while, the party shifted from inside the house to out on the front porch. As things were winding down, my buddy Nick started pass out on our outdoor couch. Want to seize the day, as well as get some sweet Facebook pictures, I grab some Sharpies from my desk and begin defacing Nick. The rest of the people (maybe 5 of us) then started a Sharpie war. I must admit it was pretty fun. Everybody had marker all over them. Fast forward to the next day. Nick and I both wake up from out drunken stupor around 10am and mosey over the local KFC for lunch. We eat, we laugh, we piece together memories from the night before. As we finish, Nick stands up and walks to the trash can to throw his trash away. As he passes an elderly couple, both the man and woman gasp at Nick. Turns out we both forgot to wash off the Sharpie from the night before. I had drawn a huge, massive penis on the side of Nick's calf and the old couple had just caught a glimpse of that veiny bastard. As I get up to toss my trash, I think to myself, "If they like that penis on his leg, they're gonna looooooooooove the big silver "VAGINA" on the back of my neck"

I don't know. It was funny when it happened. Maybe you had to be there...

Well, I guess that's all for now. Signing off...

Bring The Rain

Hello friend.

Yeah, don't start, I already know what you're going to say. In my defense, October was a busy month, and I really, truly, honestly didn't have time to blog. But I sure did find time to skate, bike, paint, go out, see art exhibits and such.

I just purchased the most recent Dethklok album. I must say, it's a lot heavier than their previous album. I'm only 3 song in, and I'm pretty impressed.

Back in October I attended my first longboard race, hosted by HGR (Houston Garage Riders). When I tell people I longboard, they usually respond with, "Don't you need hills for that?". Since we don't have many (if any) hills in Houston, we resort to skating in parking garages. Anyways...HGR hosted a race a while back and I participated. We skated 6 garages? (Hobby Center, Customs, Ed's, Pre-Cash, BlueCross BlueShield, and that last one...) Yeah, six garages in one night. We started around 11pm, and we didnt' finish till about 4am. I got home around 5am. A solid 5 hours of competitive skating. I swan-dived into bed, and slept till about 1 that afternoon. Out of 50+ guys, I placed 16th. I think it was pretty good for my first time out.

Yesh. Me in the lead, but not for long. The wheels I was weren't very grippy, and right after this picture was taken I totally ate it. Big time.

Ok, I think I'm going to sign off here soon. Let me throw up a random picture.

Goodnight.

The Face That Launched 1000 Shits

Rise and shine. It's a new month, and this my first post of said month. I'm proud to say that I officially have a longboard quiver. I'd post a picture but my camera is M.I.A. at the moment. I currently own:
  • a Sector9 OG Cloud with: 180mm Paris trucks, Orangatang In Heat wheels (75mm 80a) with Bones Reds bearings
  • a Gravity Indian Sunset with: 150mm Ace trucks, Earthwing Superball Freeriders (70mm 81a) with Bones Reds bearings
  • an Earthwing Mystery Model with: 180mm Paris trucks, Abec11 Retro BigZigs (75mm 86a) with Bones Reds bearings
There's a longboard race next weekend. Definitely excited about testing out my new board. When I got my first deck, I wanted to name it Texas Floods, after the Stevie Ray Vaughn song. I thought that'd be cool, so I wanted to name every board I got after that after a Stevie Ray Vaughn song. So when I got my second board I gave it a name after a Stevie Ray Vaughn song. But after a while, I thought that'd be super whack, so I kept the Sector9 as Texas Floods. I named my Gravity board Little Wing. Now, see, it originally was a Jimi Hendrix song that Stevie Ray covered, so it's technically not his song. With the Earthwing, I decided to change it up. I wanted to give it an off-the-wall kind of name. So I named it Balthasaar. Pretty badass, I know.

It's finally starting to get cold here in Houston. By cold, I mean it dropped in to the 60's here. Texans go crazy when it gets cold here. It dropped down to 65 the other night, and I saw people breaking out their peacoats, parkas, and scarves. Seriously? It's not that cold. Ya'll are either eager to break out the winter gear and rock that argyle sweater (like myself), or y'all just don't know how to act it the weather.

I think it's about time for a new pair of Chucks. Straight up.
